I've noticed that a few snacks containing peanut and peanut butter have been sneaking in lately. I've been letting those who bring a "peanut snack" for school eat their snack away from the rest of the kiddos, but I'm not going to be able to do that anymore. I told the kids about it this morning, but we cannot have peanuts or anything containing peanuts in the classroom (even if they are staying away from the peanut allergies.)
Tomorrow's Lunch! You did not have to preorder a lunch for tomorrow. The cafeteria will be serving lunch as usual. But we will be eating outside tomorrow (just like they would have on the Oregon Trail!), so it might be easier to pack something that doesn't have to be microwaved. (That being said, I know this is a little last minute. So if all you have is something that has to be microwaved ~ no big deal! We can microwave what we need :o))

This Week
OREGON TRAIL DAY is Wednesday: Come to school dressed like a pioneer (if you want to!), and we will experience the Oregon Trail at CES!
DISCOVERY DAY is FRIDAY. (I wrote Wednesday in the Newsletter ~ it is FRIDAY!) Although we will not be having parent volunteers this year, don’t forget everyone who did not preorder from the cafeteria will need to send in a sack lunch!

Oregon Trail Day
We are having so much fun learning about the Oregon Trail! I love watching how excited they are each day when we talk about it.
On Oregon Trail Day (Wednesday) we are going to make butter in class. I was wondering if anyone would volunteer to send in some heavy whipping cream for us? I have lots of saltine crackers and the rest of the supplies, but we need some whipping cream to actually make the butter. Email me if that's something you could help out with! I think that making the butter is actually the MOST fun of the day!

Daily Geography
I am sending these home with everyone in their take home folders today. We started writing in complete sentences to answer these questions as a part of their grammar grade. Since this was a new way of answering, I spent a long time checking these answers as a class. (Usually, I do this pretty quick!) In addition, I graded the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday answers before we did Thursday and Friday so the kids could see what kind of mistakes they were making (if any!) and fix it before we finished the rest of the week.
Most of the grammar grades were great! However, there were quite a few that shocked me! Especially knowing how much time we spent going over the answers together ~ I write each answer down as we go and answer questions concerning "What if I wrote this?" I wanted to give you plenty of time to help get these corrected if needed!
Like I said ~ most of the grades were pretty good! But I'm going to go ahead and send all of them home so that you don't have to wonder about it! :o) We'll be using sentences on our Geography as a part of the grammar grade for the rest of the year (as well as spelling words correctly that are copied from the map/question and proper nouns!)
Have a great weekend!

Hat Day Tomorrow
In celebration of the Royal Wedding, we are having hat day tomorrow! I believe there is even a contest for the most creative hat :o) I just happen to have a tiara in my closet here, so I'm going to be the Kate Middleton of the future with my little baby bump. The kids don't have to go with a Royal Theme, they can just wear their craziest hat!
See everyone in the morning! (If I can tear myself away from the wedding coverage in the morning!)

Testing Reminders :o)
Get plenty of sleep!
Eat a good breakfast!
Don't forget to bring a jacket in case the classroom is cold, a few good books, and a snack.
They have been working so hard all year, and they are more than ready to take this test! Remember, we are having a closed campus for the rest of the week.
See everyone bright and early tomorrow!
