Math Website

As you may have noticed, the page numbers for the math textbook cannot be found on the DragonSpace calendar!  And I for some reason have had a hard time finding those for you again ... I should have written them down!  Don't worry about it though ~ we do not NEED to use those practice problems in the book.

Also, we used the website below during math today to practice 2 digit times 1 digit multplication.  We had so much fun!  And I promised I would send the website home for them to use!

Math

We are completing another Study Island assignment tonight for homework.  You can count on this homework every Monday and Wednesday until you hear something different from me!

Also, we are  having a multiplication test on Tuesday.  You can find the objectives we have been working on for this test as well as textbook pages you can use at home to help make practice problems in the calendar section of my DragonSpace.  (Remember, there is a link to the right on this blog page that you can click to take you to the DragonSpace site.)   If you click on Math Test on Tuesday's date you will see all of the information that you need to know!

One big thing that I am noticing is that we are still struggling with our facts!  I have flash cards in class that we are using as well as our fact quizzes and surprise quizzes.  Knowing these facts is going to make their math work so much easier!

What is Study Island?

Easy to use at home

Using your home computer do the following:
Go to: http://www.studyisland.com/ (Or click on the Study Island link to the right)
Your child will type in his or her UserName & Password (Students will write UserName & Password in Planner)
Click on assignment with check mark: For example: "Place Value"
Click on Test Mode
Change the Number of questions to 10

Students must make a 70% to count as a completed test. If a student does not make a 70% on test, then they must click the number of questions button for another set of 10 questions. Once a 70% has been accomplished on at least one test assignment, students are able to play the game.

We realize that unforeseen circumstances may happen where your child may be unable to use the home computer from time to time. Please notify your child's teacher to work out a solution.
