Library Books!

We just learned that the library has to be completely packed up by Monday due to continuing construction.  In order for Ms. Campbell to take an accurate inventory, we are asking that ALL library books be returned by Friday!

On another note, I accidently gave the kids their cursive homework for tomorrow night.  Some of them decided they wanted to do it tonight so they don't have homework tomorrow.  Some decided that they were just going to keep it and do it tomorrow night.  Either way is fine with me :o)

Carroll ISD and the USO

CARROLL ISD and The USO!

Dear CES Parents:

Carroll ISD has teamed with the USO to help support our troops here at DFW airport. Approximately 200 servicemen and women go through our airport daily as they are being deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Before boarding their planes, they are given an opportunity to visit a USO room full of supplies that they will need once they reach their destination. Carroll ISD is collecting all of the items provided by the USO to help stock this room; each school is focusing on certain items.

Here at CES we will be collecting travel/snack-size nuts: peanuts, or mixed nuts as well as travel-size baby wipes. It is very important to note the size as available packing space for the items is an issue!

When our USO representative came to our school and heard which items we were assigned, she stressed the importance of the items and stated that servicemen and women are encouraged to take as many of them as they would like. The nuts provide an excellent source of protein when in the field and the baby wipes cannot be used enough in the heat of the desert when bathing is not always a possibility!

Please help us shower the USO and our servicemen and women with kindness and compassion during our supply drive which will run now through Friday, April 29th! Collection boxes can be found in the counseling office as well as in front of the school library.

Thank you in advance for your support!

From Ms. Wagnon

Dear Parents,

I apologize for sending this to you via email however, our copier is down and I wanted to be certain that you received this information today.

At 9:00 a.m. we evacuated the building due to the fact that smoke was detected in the cafeteria. I am so proud of our students and staff; we were out of the building in less than two minutes. The smoke smell was caused by the crew welding outside the cafeteria area. The smell got into the ventilation system. Our contractor assured me that as a practice, whenever welding is occurring on site, a second worker stands nearby with a fire extinguisher just in case it is ever needed. Emergency vehicles did respond and the children were evacuated. AT 9:30 a.m. the fire department gave us clearance and the children returned safely back to their classrooms. The fire department was very complimentary of our staff and students.

Please know that safety is always my number one priority.

Thank you for your continued support as we grow our beautiful new building. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Stacy S. Wagnon

Monday and Tutoring Pick Up

Monday, April 4th, we are going to have a closed campus due to some testing that will be happening in the building.

Also, we are still keeping the pick-up place for tutoring in the back of the building, but when you pull in the back driveway keep driving as far as you can before you stop.  Since we told you to stop at the 3rd grade doors, there has been come traffic and congestion backed up onto Continental.  When I walk the kids outside, I will walk them to wherever you are in line!  Thanks so much!
